Director of Legal – Product

📋 Description

• Act as the embedded legal partner for the Product team.

• Advocate for the integration of AI-driven legal tools throughout the legal department.

• Develop and enhance AI-enabled processes for managing the contract lifecycle.

• Utilize AI-assisted research tools to track regulatory updates and convert insights into actionable recommendations.

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of commercial agreements.

• Oversee and manage relationships with external counsel.

• Provide guidance on intellectual property strategies.

• Collaborate with Compliance and Finance teams on regulatory issues.

• Create and deliver legal training programs for Product team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; active bar membership is mandatory.

• Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, including significant in-house work at a fintech, payments, or financial services company (or equivalent law firm experience).

• Proven interest in and practical experience with AI legal tools (e.g., Harvey, CoCounsel, Ironclad AI, Spellbook, or similar platforms).

• Established ability to collaborate across functions with product and engineering teams.

• Comprehensive knowledge of laws and regulations relating to consumer financial products, such as FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA, EFTA, Reg E, Reg B, SCRA/MLA, and relevant state laws.

• Experience in managing outside counsel and legal operations.

• Strong analytical capabilities and ease in working with extensive datasets.

• Self-motivated individual who proactively drives initiatives to completion.
