This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive innovation strategy that aligns with grid modernization and the trends of industry electrification.
• Recognize emerging technologies and evaluate their potential effects on the operations of utility and industrial customers.
• Assist in the creation of technology roadmaps.
• Lead initiatives for New Technology Introduction aimed at differentiating software-defined automation solutions.
• Head mission-driven teams that deliver customer-centric solutions for the digital transformation of substations and grid networks.
• Oversee customer proof-of-concept projects from initial concept through to successful implementation.
• Collaborate with R&D, product management, and commercial teams to explore innovation collaboration opportunities.
• Establish and nurture strategic relationships with utility customers, research institutions, and technology partners.
• Represent the organization at industry conferences, standards committees, and technical forums.
• Work alongside utilities on future grid architecture and operational requirements.
• Build and lead a high-performing innovation team.
• Encourage creativity, experimentation, and rapid prototyping.
• Mentor technical staff and support their professional growth.
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• A minimum of 12 years of experience in power systems, grid automation, or related technology sectors.
• At least 5 years in senior leadership roles overseeing innovation or R&D organizations.
• Proven history of successfully bringing innovative products from concept to market.
• Extensive knowledge of the electric grid ecosystem, including assets, protection, automation, monitoring and diagnostics, communications, customers, and markets.
• Experience with software-defined systems, virtualization, and cloud computing architectures.
• Understanding of AI/ML applications in industrial automation and grid operations.
• Familiarity with IEC 61850, DNP3, GOOSE, and cybersecurity protocols.
• Capability to translate technical vision into business strategies.
• Project management experience leading complex, multidisciplinary initiatives.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills suited for both technical and executive audiences.
• Experience in managing customer relationships and collaborative development projects.
• Knowledge of utility industry standards and regulatory contexts.
• Background in digital transformation initiatives within traditional industries.
• Prior experience in proof-of-concept development and technology validation.
• Published research or patents in relevant technical fields.
• Professional certifications in project management or innovation methodologies.
• Eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus.

• Geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in select US regions.
