Director of Higher Education, Workforce Strategy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Collaborate directly with colleges and universities to enhance program delivery and drive system-level improvements.

• Offer on-site or virtual coaching to faculty, administrators, and staff on student mental health support and alternatives to exclusionary discipline practices.

• Assist educational institutions in identifying, implementing, and assessing evidence-based and best-practice mental health interventions and supports.

• Address operational, implementation, and systems-level challenges, including student engagement, staffing shortages, and program rollout issues.

• Promote the Minding College Minds Postsecondary Mental Health Framework to establish comprehensive, implementation-focused campus mental health systems.

• Provide leadership and management for assigned project teams.

• Prepare updates, reports, and recommendations for project deliverables.

• Integrate perspectives from education partners, colleagues, and subject-matter experts into project design and execution.

• Contribute to development initiatives, including identifying funding opportunities, generating project ideas, conducting research, and assisting with proposal preparation and submission tracking.

• Cultivate relationships with schools, higher education institutions, and cross-sector partners, serving as a trusted advisor on student mental health program implementation.

• Support K-12 projects as required.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, policy, education, or a related field.

• Direct experience within higher education systems.

• Ability to translate research and best practices into actionable strategies across diverse community settings.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience in designing and developing educational materials and training sessions.

• Proven experience facilitating meetings with a variety of stakeholders.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, including overcoming geographic and communication barriers.

• Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple tasks and projects while adhering to deadlines.

• Strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills.

• Adaptability when addressing new issues, topics, and methodologies.

• Preferred: 7+ years of professional experience in a related position.

• Preferred: Experience in implementing student mental health initiatives, campus climate improvement, MTSS, crisis response, alternatives to exclusionary discipline, or school improvement efforts.

• Preferred work location is Texas.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
