Director of Grants and Foundations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily execution of AH&H’s institutional fundraising strategy involving foundations, state government funders, and NGO intermediaries and re-granters.

• Take personal charge of the entire proposal process — from concept notes and letters of inquiry to comprehensive proposals, applications, and follow-ups post-submission.

• Ensure strict compliance, reporting, and stewardship across the entire portfolio.

• Facilitate relationship management for existing and potential institutional funders through tailored engagement strategies.

• Establish the operational framework of an institutional fundraising function that is prepared for growth alongside AH&H.

• Supervise and mentor one direct report (Grant Manager).

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in institutional fundraising, grants management, foundation relations, or proposal writing — preferably within the humanitarian, international NGO, disaster response, or broader social impact sectors.

• Proven experience in personally crafting and submitting successful grant proposals ranging from five to seven figures to US foundations.

• The ideal candidate for this position is a proactive, independent, structured, and tech-savvy individual.

• Exceptional written communication skills in US English.

• A genuine interest in technology and a curiosity for exploring new tools.
