Director of External Communications

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic global leadership for the organization’s external communications.

• Lead and mentor two direct reports along with their teams, comprising approximately 12 members.

• Cultivate and sustain robust relationships with communications colleagues across Plan International’s various entities.

• Foster ethical and impactful storytelling that embodies Plan International’s core values.

• Oversee the development and execution of digital and social media campaigns.

• Advocate for the organization’s brand strategy.

• Direct timely and effective communications responses to global events and emergencies.

• Offer expert advice on managing reputational risks.

• Promote innovation by incorporating emerging communication technologies.

• Ensure the continuous publication of high-quality reports and reviews.

• Extensive experience in leading communications teams within intricate international settings, demonstrating a successful history in brand management and strategic communications.

• Profound understanding of international affairs, especially issues impacting children and youth.

• Exceptional leadership and management capabilities, with a proven ability to inspire and develop diverse teams.

• Strong proficiency in media relations, digital communications, and public relations strategies.

• Established ability to lead and manage reputation and crisis communications.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Commitment to Plan International’s mission and values, with a personal dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion, and safeguarding principles.

• Language proficiency: English is essential; knowledge of French or Spanish is highly desirable.
