This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Develop, manage, and execute IEEFA Australia’s communications strategy in alignment with strategic objectives, including positioning, messaging, channel selection, and measurable targets.
• Lead, nurture, and guide a team of 4-6 communications professionals, overseeing performance, wellbeing, daily priorities, and enhancing capabilities across roles.
• Collaborate with analysts to offer strategic media and communications guidance on framing, key messages, timing, effective product formats, and innovative launch campaigns.
• Supervise media engagement, partnering with the future media manager to foster relationships with journalists and seek opportunities for expanded media coverage.
• Propel the organization’s political engagement strategy, manage senior-level relationships with political stakeholders, and pursue engagement opportunities on current policy matters.
• Oversee social media, EDMs/newsletters, and the stakeholder database/CRM, ensuring targeted, well-governed engagement and the capability to distribute assets during live topics.
• Collaborate with the Managing Editor to guarantee that all communications outputs adhere to IEEFA standards for quality, accuracy, editorial integrity, branding, and message consistency.
• Maintain partnerships and identify opportunities for collaboration.
• Develop and sustain a consistent set of communications KPIs and dashboard (for media, web, social, engagement) with a regular reporting schedule, aligned to the global KPI framework.
• Actively participate as a member of IEEFA’s Global Communications Team (GCT), promoting effective working relationships and contributing to cross-regional collaboration, standards, campaigns, shared platforms, and positioning.
• Provide counsel and support to the CEO on reputation management, government and funder relations, handling contentious issues, and crisis communications.
• Ensure sound operational governance, including routine archiving, documented processes for the contacts database, and effective utilization of project management tools (e.g., ClickUp).
• More than 7 years of proven experience in communications, media, and stakeholder engagement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Exceptional media relations capabilities and a well-established network within national, specialist, and ideally financial/energy media.
• Strong comprehension of Australian government, policy, and parliamentary processes, along with sound political judgement in a politically sensitive climate.
• Proven capacity to convert complex, technical research into clear, engaging messaging and content for general audiences.
• Experience in developing and implementing digital content strategies across social media and web platforms, with a track record of enhancing audience engagement and followership.
• Experience in setting and reporting on communications metrics and KPIs, utilizing insights to enhance performance.
• Background in finance, energy, public policy, or the not-for-profit sector is highly advantageous.
• Proficient in various computer applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite and remote working collaboration tools.
