This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.
• Take charge of the end-to-end engineering of the Nexus Exchange, which includes matching, risk management, settlement, indexing, storage, API/CLI/SDK, oracle, and infrastructure.
• Define the engineering vision while actively participating in high-impact production coding.
• Be responsible for the architectural decisions within the Exchange domain.
• Develop the Exchange and its components, utilizing Kubernetes and Terraform infrastructure.
• Lead senior engineers and teams, overseeing timelines, roadmaps, and resource allocation.
• Propel product, customer, and business results with a sense of urgency and frequent iterations.
• Enhance organizational productivity and operational efficiency.
• Manage the automation of engineering processes, agent infrastructure, logging, telemetry, observability, and self-improvement cycles.
• Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to design team structures and incentives.
• Oversee a globally distributed workforce.
• Set up quality infrastructure, automated testing, code review, on-call, and incident-response standards.
• Mentor individual contributors and tech leads to foster growth.
• Communicate effectively through design documents, RFCs, and post-mortems.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in building production software.
• At least 2 years in an engineering leadership role, such as tech lead, staff engineer, principal engineer, or architect across various teams.
• Experience in leading engineering organizations effectively.
• Proven expertise in developing high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Strong understanding of concurrent and parallel systems.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of Rust, Go, Next.js/TypeScript or Node, and GCP.
• Excellent architectural skills with the ability to balance correctness, latency, throughput, and operability.
• A business-oriented and outcome-focused mindset.
• Strong resilience, logical reasoning, and ability to think from first principles under pressure.
• Interest in leveraging current AI tools and enhancing organizational automation.
• Experience in mentoring senior engineers and developing tech leads.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• An async-first working style with significant overlap with US Pacific time.
• Extensive experience in exchange/trading systems or similar transaction-processing architectures.
• Understanding of matching, risk management, and settlement correctness; market data indexing and cold storage; API, SDK, and CLI interfaces; and oracle design.
• Willingness to work PST hours and be available on-call, as indicated in the application form.
