This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise the success of the Growth and Patient Portal teams—ensuring they are equipped with the right personnel, processes, and timelines, while holding them accountable for delivering company value with minimal defects and high reliability.
• Own the QA and Product Support functions across all application teams, establishing standards and creating processes that maintain high quality.
• Lead through your managers—mentoring, training, and nurturing the next generation of engineering leaders and senior individual contributors.
• Set and uphold a high technical quality standard across your teams, while remaining close enough to the code to facilitate the resolution of technical issues that cross team boundaries.
• Identify and address problems of ambiguous ownership and inter-team dependencies, while closing documentation and process gaps within the broader engineering organization.
• Collaborate with product, design, and clinical teams to ensure a seamless patient experience from the initial interaction through ongoing care.
• Work alongside fellow Engineering Directors to promote consistent quality and velocity throughout the entire organization.
• Foster a positive, thriving culture within your teams that enhances our overall engineering culture across the organization.
• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.
• More than 4 years of engineering management experience, including managing managers or leading multiple teams.
• A strong, up-to-date technical background—you can still engage hands-on and are credible with senior engineers on architecture and coding.
• Hands-on experience with React, TypeScript (bonus: Next.js), and AWS.
• A passion for AI-assisted development and experience with adopting tools like Claude Code across teams.
• A proven history of managing teams that consistently deliver business value with low defect rates and high reliability.
• Exceptional communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and the capability to amplify your impact through delegation, written communication, and clear expectations.
• Comfort in having difficult conversations—proactive about accountability and maintaining a high performance standard for teams.
• Experience owning or closely partnering with QA and/or Product Support functions (bonus).
• Familiarity with working in a HIPAA-compliant environment (bonus).
• A strong enthusiasm for creating exceptional patient experiences.
