This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Lead the engineering division for the collaborative web platform: recruiting and nurturing engineers and engineering managers, defining the technical strategy, and overseeing delivery from initial architecture to a fully scaled production platform.
β’ Collaborate closely with product, design, and go-to-market teams to transform a compelling vision into a platform that developers and content teams appreciate.
β’ Make architectural choices for the platform's essential systems: real-time collaboration, branch-aware content states, API and integration layers, and visual editing infrastructure.
β’ Establish and promote engineering standards across the entire stack β backend services, frontend systems, APIs, testing, observability, and deployment.
β’ Maintain a strong technical perspective while remaining receptive to feedback β you will be a trusted advisor for staff and principal engineers on the team.
β’ Take full responsibility for end-to-end delivery: planning, execution, quality, and iteration speed across the team.
β’ Manage technical debt and modernization trade-offs in a zero-to-one context where the best choice is often to accelerate β and occasionally to refactor intentionally.
β’ Over 12 years of engineering experience, including more than 5 years in senior engineering leadership roles overseeing teams of engineers and engineering managers.
β’ Proven success in building and launching products from their early stages through to scaling β ideally, this includes at least one zero-to-one or platform-founding experience.
β’ Strong organizational builder: you have recruited, developed, and retained outstanding engineers, and you understand what a high-performing team culture truly feels like.
β’ Experience in leading full-stack product engineering teams, with genuine expertise in both frontend and backend matters.
β’ Proven ability to function in a high-ambiguity environment β establishing direction and sustaining team momentum without a complete roadmap.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
β’ Profound understanding of modern web platform architecture: APIs, real-time data synchronization, cloud-native services, and component-based frontend systems.
β’ Proficiency in cloud infrastructure and deployment (GCP, AWS, or Azure), container orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines.
β’ Sufficient frontend architecture knowledge to engage credibly with engineers developing visual editing experiences, component systems, and browser-side state management.
β’ Experience with distributed systems design β particularly in scenarios involving collaborative state, branching models, or event-driven data flows.
β’ Familiarity with CMS, developer tooling, or web publishing platforms is a significant advantage.
β’ Competitive compensation and equity plan within the industry.
β’ Flexible time off, sick days, and 13 paid holidays.
β’ Comprehensive medical insurance, including Health, Dental, and Vision coverage.
β’ Paid parental leave (along with fertility, adoption, and other family planning benefits).
β’ In-office workspace available in San Francisco & Chicago.
β’ Monthly allowance for wellness, reading, and access to LinkedIn Learning for ongoing development.
β’ Events and activities that are both team-oriented and company-wide, designed to inspire, educate, and cultivate.
