Director of Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Direct and oversee all operations of the Engineering and Grounds department.

• Manage facility maintenance, repairs, construction management, and asset management while adhering to budgetary constraints and company objectives.

• Develop and oversee financial plans for the department, covering labor, expenses, and allocations.

• Coordinate activities of Engineering and Grounds under the guidance of the Assistant General Manager.

• Work collaboratively with department Directors to achieve guest-service targets as a part of the Property Leadership Team.

• Supervise contractors, vendors, contracts, insurance certifications, and project permits.

• Address maintenance needs related to guest services.

• Plan capital projects and maintain a five-year capital plan for the Hotel, Condominiums, and Employee Housing.

• Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet scope requirements.

• Develop and enforce procedures for facilities maintenance, repairs, and construction.

• Plan and manage the opening and closing of operational facilities.

• Oversee the Engineering Manager and guarantee timely and cost-effective completion of work orders.

• Review and authorize departmental purchase orders and invoices.

• Ensure adherence to Federal, State, County, and company regulations and policies.

• Conduct annual refresher training and weekly documented safety meetings.

• Manage timekeeping, scheduling, and meal-break compliance.

• Carry out other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7–10 years of supervisory or foreman experience in general building maintenance or trades such as electrical, refrigeration, or plumbing.

• Must have or be able to secure a valid driver's license within 90 days of employment and adhere to the company vehicle policy.

• A B.S. or advanced degree in a relevant field such as engineering, facilities engineering, construction management, project management, or building technology is preferred, or seven to ten years of equivalent managerial/supervisory experience.

• Demonstrated leadership, management, and team-building skills.

• Capable of process and change management, including demand assessment, SWOT analysis, and evaluation of roles, responsibilities, and business processes.

• Experience in preparing and managing operational and capital budgets.

• Familiarity with construction management program preparation and oversight.

• Knowledge of current safety and health regulations.

• Physical endurance to perform heavy labor in challenging outdoor environments.

• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Proficient in computer software including Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, and engineering applications.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Capacity to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

• Ability to follow instructions with respect, integrity, and diligence.

• Skills in problem-solving, troubleshooting, reasoning, attention to detail, multitasking, prioritization, and verbal comprehension.

• Capability to stand for extended periods, walk, climb stairs, and work in extreme temperatures.

• Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, extended hours, and seasonal demands.
