Director of Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the engineering strategy and organization for KYX, overseeing the onboarding of identity, access, and due diligence, as well as continuous monitoring and risk scoring.

• Direct engineering efforts across backend, frontend, data science, and ML engineering teams situated in Hyderabad, Delhi, Sofia, Belgrade, Bucharest, and Vilnius.

• Manage KYX Scoring & ML as a collective capability, which includes model development, backtesting, phased rollout, and production monitoring.

• Expand agentic AI within regulated workflows, ranging from onboarding risk scoring to screening, review, and verification.

• Collaborate with KYX Ops, KYX Policy, Second Line of Defence, Product, and IAM across the UK, EU, and India.

• Achieve higher rates of automated decision-making, enhance due diligence and screening quality, and reduce KYX costs per member.

• Implement a build-once, deploy globally approach while maintaining isolated market-specific logic.

• Influence onboarding and expansion into new markets under Tide’s licenses, along with applied AI capabilities in a regulated setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in leading engineering organizations within identity, onboarding, fraud, financial crime, or other regulated decision-making domains.

• A strong history of transforming platform investments into tangible results, including conversion rates, due diligence quality, unit economics, and workflow automation.

• Experience in transitioning machine learning from development to large-scale production, while taking ownership of model performance post-launch.

• Familiarity with operating in a regulated environment, collaborating with Ops, Policy, and second line risk and compliance functions.

• Exceptional judgment in areas such as organization design, delivery, platform strategy, data architecture, and technical excellence.

• Capability to lead distributed teams across various markets and align previously distinct engineering paths under a unified roadmap.

• Experience in deploying AI or agentic systems within regulated workflows, with a solid understanding of governance, evaluation, and human oversight, would be advantageous.
