This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• The Engineering Director is responsible for overseeing the execution of capital projects within manufacturing and packaging facilities.
• This position plays a crucial role in supporting enterprise asset reliability programs, collaborating closely with site leadership.
• Ensures adherence to Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) regulations.
• Promotes the consistent application of engineering programs, standards, and best practices across designated sites.
• Works in conjunction with the maintenance excellence team and maintenance personnel to enhance preventative, predictive, and TPM strategies.
• Directs root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts following equipment or system failures.
• Mentors and develops Project Managers, Engineers, and Maintenance Leaders in project execution and technical practices.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, or a related discipline) or equivalent technical experience is required.
• At least 10 years of progressive engineering experience, including leadership roles in food manufacturing or cGMP environments.
• Proven track record in leading capital projects, preferably in the $10MM–$35MM range.
• Demonstrated success in leading engineering, maintenance, and reliability programs.
• Experience in managing cross-functional teams and achieving results through influence.
• Knowledge of vendor management, contract negotiation, and procurement processes.
• Experience in capital planning and execution.
• Involvement in Sustainable Cost Reduction Projects.
• Familiarity with asset reliability and maintenance strategies (PM, PdM, TPM).
• Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Competence in Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
• Skills in engineering design, process optimization, and industrial engineering techniques.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP).
• Familiarity with CMMS systems (MVP one or similar).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD.
