This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Lead and cultivate three sub-teams: Platform Engineering & ETL, Analytics Engineering, and Data Science & Analytics. Oversee team leads, prioritize tasks, and guarantee successful delivery.
• Take ownership of the Data Lakehouse architecture, which includes Trino, Iceberg/GCS, Airflow, Airbyte, Redpanda CDC, and dbt. Make informed decisions regarding build-vs-buy for tools.
• Enhance partner invoicing accuracy and development: ensure that invoicing logic is version-controlled, replicable, and adaptable to new pricing strategies and product launches.
• Provide embedded analytics: make warehouse data accessible to partners through BrokerDash, SSR pipelines, and API-driven reporting. Manage row-level security and entitlements.
• Assist in product launches with data change management: coordinate data impact assessments for new offerings (fixed income, global stocks, perps, 24/5 trading) across downstream datasets, dashboards, and reverse ETL.
• Propel self-service initiatives: transition the organization towards self-serve analytics using semantic layers, data catalogs, and conversational BI to allow the data team to focus on strategic projects rather than ad-hoc queries.
• Direct AI/ML enablement: supervise enterprise AI search, agent-based workflow automation, and LLM-driven analytics. Help balance vendor offerings with in-house solutions.
• Partner with Finance, Sales, Product, Compliance, and Customer Success to convert business requirements into data products.
• Manage infrastructure expenditures: maintain the data + cloud cost ratio within targets as AUC expands.
• Ensure operational efficiency of production systems: oversee on-call processes, incident responses, and SLOs for data freshness, accuracy, and availability.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics, including at least 3 years of managing data teams (both leads and individual contributors).
• Extensive experience with modern data stacks: dbt, Trino/Presto or similar query engines, Apache Iceberg or equivalent table formats, and cloud object storage solutions.
• Practical experience with ETL/ELT patterns at scale: CDC (Debezium/Kafka), batch processes (Airflow/dbt), streaming, and reverse ETL.
• Proven track record in developing self-service analytics capabilities for non-technical users.
• Experience working with financial data, including trading, invoicing, revenue attribution, or regulatory reporting within fintech or financial services.
• Proficient in Python and SQL, with the ability to read code, review pull requests, and make architectural decisions.
• Experience managing distributed or remote teams across various time zones.
• Strong stakeholder management skills: capable of translating executive priorities into engineering execution.
• Familiarity with GCP (GKE, GCS, BigQuery migration), Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform.
• Competitive Salary & Stock Options
• Health Benefits
• New Hire Home-Office Setup: One-time USD $500
• Monthly Stipend: USD $150 per month via a Brex Card
