Director of Construction Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Supervise daily residential solar construction activities across various teams and departments.

• Direct operations related to installation, electrical work, service, scheduling, and field management.

• Enhance and refine operational processes, workflows, and standards for accountability.

• Track installation schedules, production metrics, and key operational performance indicators (KPIs).

• Ensure that all projects are finalized safely and adhere to NEC, AHJ, and company regulations.

• Assist with labor planning, crew deployment, and operational forecasting.

• Collaborate with permitting, engineering, inspection, and executive leadership teams.

• Detect operational bottlenecks and apply scalable solutions.

• Manage quality assurance initiatives to minimize operational shortcomings and repeat service challenges.

• Oversee the development of field leadership, including coaching and performance accountability.

• Support recruitment, onboarding, and initiatives for operational growth.

• Maintain professional communication with homeowners, inspectors, vendors, and internal teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Robust leadership experience in residential solar construction operations.

• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple operational departments at once.

• In-depth knowledge of solar installation workflows, electrical operations, and field logistics.

• Experience in developing operational systems, accountability frameworks, and scalable processes.

• Strong skills in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organization.

• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth settings.

• Excellent communication skills and leadership presence.

• Experience overseeing field managers, electrical teams, and operational units.

• Familiarity with NEC standards, inspection processes, and AHJ requirements.

• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

• Prior experience in a Director-level or senior operations leadership role is preferred.

• Background as a Journeyman or Master Electrician is preferred.

• NABCEP certification.

• Experience managing solar operations across multiple markets.

• Strong background in service operations and first-visit resolution strategies.

• Familiarity with battery storage systems and advanced solar technologies.
