Director of Accounting, Tax Services, CPA License

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Review and authorize federal and state tax returns as well as monthly financial statements.

• Manage tax and accounting engagements for a varied client portfolio, ensuring that all monthly closing and tax deadlines are consistently met.

• Directly oversee Managers, Seniors, and Staff, providing coaching and performance management while playing a crucial role in hiring and capacity planning.

• Track team utilization and realization, identify workflow impediments, and implement process enhancements to improve the firm’s operational efficiency.

• Act as the main technical escalation contact for the team, exercising independent professional judgment to mitigate risk and resolve complex client challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• An active CPA license in good standing is mandatory.

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in public accounting, with substantial experience as a signing tax preparer.

• A proven history of supervising, mentoring, and developing professionals in accounting and tax.

• Strong expertise in both tax compliance and GAAP financial reporting for small to midsize businesses.

• A composed and steady presence under pressure, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to non-financial business owners.
