This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership of the entire accounting close cycle, which includes general ledger (GL), accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll accounting, deferred revenue, and reconciliations.
• Prepare precise GAAP-compliant financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Oversee ASC 606 revenue recognition for all product lines.
• Review significant contracts, manage deferred revenue schedules, and reconcile the Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) waterfall in collaboration with the VP of Finance.
• Establish and manage the AR collections process, which encompasses aging management, customer outreach, escalations, and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) tracking.
• Collaborate with Customer Success and Sales teams to resolve billing disputes and facilitate cash application.
• Design and execute internal controls, accounting policies, delegation of authority, and governance for spend approvals.
• Create a robust audit readiness infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and sales tax regulations in conjunction with external advisors.
• Oversee ASC 718 equity accounting, manage stock option plan administration, and coordinate the cap table.
• Assess, implement, and optimize the accounting technology stack and its integrations.
• Automate recurring accounting workflows to enhance accuracy and minimize the close cycle duration.
• Work alongside the VP of Finance on board reporting, investor packages, and due diligence materials for Series B funding.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and corporate counsel.
• Build and nurture a small, high-performing accounting team.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Previous roles as Controller or Assistant Controller in a venture-backed SaaS company.
• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, particularly ASC 606 in a recurring-revenue context.
• Experience managing multi-element arrangements, non-standard deals, and deferred revenue.
• Proficient understanding of ASC 718 and equity accounting.
• Proven track record in establishing an accounting function from the ground up.
• Experience in crafting accounting policies, instituting controls, and implementing systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage external audits to completion.
• Hands-on experience with a modern cloud ERP such as Campfire or Rillet.
• Familiarity with integrating billing, CRM, and payroll platforms.
• Comfortable using AI tools for accounting workflows and analyses.
• Ability to communicate technical accounting matters in simple terms for executives, the board, and investors.
• CPA designation is highly preferred.
• Background in Big 4 or regional public accounting is strongly preferred.
• Experience in B2B SaaS, cybersecurity, or compliance is an added advantage.
• Experience in scaling accounting teams from Series A onwards and assisting with Series B+ fundraising and investor diligence is a plus.
