This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Take charge of the entire network intelligence capability, encompassing telemetry architecture, AI/ML diagnostic platforms, and cross-layer data pipelines.
• Design the telemetry architecture for access, metro Ethernet, and IP core networks.
• Establish data models that comply with Broadband Forum, OMCI, gNMI/OpenConfig, and Wi-Fi standards.
• Create AI/ML-driven systems for anomaly detection, failure prediction, and proactive alerting.
• Develop and manage a remote diagnostics and troubleshooting platform aimed at minimizing field dispatches and enhancing first-call resolution.
• Design a microservices-based orchestration framework across GPON, XGS-PON, gateways, metro, core, and FWA environments.
• Implement model outputs into closed-loop automated workflows in collaboration with NOC and Pulse Autonomous Ops teams.
• Lead the Technology & Architecture Lab at Ziply Fiber for vendor evaluation, device certification, and proof-of-concept testing.
• Acquire vendor-donated equipment and establish methodologies for certification, test plans, acceptance criteria, quality assurance standards, and documentation requirements.
• Accelerate certification processes through improvements, parallel test tracks, and automated testing tools.
• Oversee certifications for OLT, ONT, CPE, residential gateways, and core/metro platforms.
• Manage vendor relationships within the lab and coordinate efforts among product, operations, and field teams for successful implementations.
• Lead cross-functional teams of engineers and vendor partners in the realms of intelligence, diagnostics, and lab operations.
• Facilitate vendor selection and technology evaluations based on total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Define standards for data governance, retention, and quality concerning network telemetry.
• Mentor, guide, and develop personnel in engineering, technical, lab, data/automation, and vendor roles.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience.
• 12+ years of experience in access, core network engineering, network intelligence, telemetry, diagnostics, automation, or related telecommunications technology.
• Extensive knowledge of GPON/XGS-PON, OLT/ONT architecture, Wi-Fi/CPE ecosystems, and IP/metro network environments.
• 3–5+ years of progressive experience in people leadership.
• In-depth Wi-Fi expertise, including 802.11ax/be (Wi-Fi 6/6E/7), mesh platforms, RF performance analytics, and gateway/CPE ecosystems.
• Proven track record in designing and deploying unified telemetry and diagnostics platforms at scale, managing millions of devices.
• Practical experience with gNMI/gRPC streaming telemetry, NETCONF/YANG, OMCI, OpenConfig, and Broadband Forum standards TR-069/CWMP, TR-098, TR-143, TR-157, and TR-181.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Calix Cloud, Nokia HDM/ACS, Plume OpenSync, Assia, or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of AI/ML model development for network diagnostics.
• Experience in architecting microservices-based, cloud-ready orchestration layers.
• Background in building or managing a technology lab or certification center.
• Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to align engineering, operations, vendors, and field teams.

• Capacity to work independently, demonstrate sound judgment, multitask, collaborate effectively, meet critical deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, analytical, financial, leadership, coaching, executive presence, and customer service skills.
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements, including prolonged sitting and occasional lifting or moving of items up to 25 pounds.
