Director, Microgrid Business Development – Policy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Act as Delta’s main U.S. commercial and policy strategist for the Microgrid sector

• Formulate and implement advocacy strategies at both federal and state levels to minimize obstacles to microgrid implementation

• Access federal and state incentives while positioning Delta’s PV, storage, controls, and EVCS solutions for AI-enhanced power demand and grid decarbonization

• Foster collaborations with utilities, data center operators, hyperscalers, commercial & industrial customers, developers, EPCs, and public-sector stakeholders

• Identify, initiate, and nurture strategic alliances

• Assist regional business development with policy insights, funding optimization, regulatory risk evaluations, and coalition-building for RFPs and significant projects

• Represent Delta in industry associations and standards organizations

• Promote public-private partnerships, DOE/DoD demonstrations or pilots, and state microgrid resilience initiatives

• Spearhead the U.S. microgrid policy agenda encompassing storage integration, behind-the-meter generation, grid resilience, interconnection reforms, VPPs, and utility-microgrid models

• Monitor and evaluate developments in Congress, DOE, FERC, Treasury, DoD, as well as state legislative and regulatory matters

• Prepare briefs, comments on rulemakings, testimonies, and meeting materials; represent Delta during hearings and stakeholder workshops

• Advocate for enhanced eligibility and economics under §45X, §48/§48E Investment Tax Credits, and IIJA funding programs

• Track and seek federal and state funding opportunities, advising teams and customers on incentive stacking and tax credit qualifications

• Create policy playbooks, competitive intelligence briefs, and commercial training

• Represent Delta as a thought leader in the industry at major conferences

• Provide guidance to Energy Infrastructure and Microgrid Solutions leadership regarding projects and U.S. market expansion

• Collaborate with global headquarters on U.S. regulatory updates and policy insights

• Support U.S. manufacturing and supply chain policy initiatives


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 15 years of senior-level experience in business development within government entities, public policy advocacy, or strategic partnerships

• Experience in the clean energy, power/utilities, energy storage, distributed energy resources, or advanced manufacturing sectors

• Proven ability to drive new project developments or achieve policy victories that enhance market access or project economics for energy technologies

• Significant hands-on experience working with DOE, FERC, DoD, state energy offices, regulatory commissions, and leading clean energy industry associations

• Capability to navigate the intersection of policy and commercial objectives, translating regulatory changes into sales opportunities and revenue-generating actions

• Exceptional written, verbal, and executive communication abilities

• Proficiency in producing concise, impactful briefs for senior internal and external executives

• Willingness and capability to travel domestically about 30–50% of the time, with occasional international travel

• Direct experience with utilities, government entities, or microgrid/DER interconnection frameworks is preferred

• Familiarity with U.S. energy resilience initiatives, critical infrastructure policy, or federal facility procurement is preferred

• Comprehensive understanding of utility rate design, standby charges, export compensation, and partnership structures that facilitate behind-the-meter microgrid deployment is preferred

• Must possess authorization to work in the United States permanently without current or future visa sponsorship
