This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.
• Oversee government relations and public policy initiatives within the UK and the EU, specifically in Germany, France, Ireland, and Spain, with a focus on developing strategy for each market and cross-border activities.
• Aid the company's global growth, market development, and integration efforts by evaluating policy risks, stakeholder dynamics, and regulatory factors in key markets.
• Establish and nurture relationships with health ministries, parliament members, EU institutions (Commission, Parliament, Council), patient advocacy groups, and industry coalitions.
• Create advocacy strategies addressing critical business issues such as online prescribing, telemedicine, access to weight loss treatments, pharmacy regulations, digital health and AI in healthcare, and reforms focused on patient-centered national health systems.
• Track legislative, regulatory, and political changes across our markets, converting them into clear business implications and strategic recommendations for leadership.
• Oversee external consultants, agencies, and trade association memberships to enhance outreach and effectiveness across various jurisdictions.
• Represent Hims & Hers in external forums, roundtables, consultations, and stakeholder meetings, acting as a credible spokesperson on policy matters when necessary.
• Collaborate with Legal, Regulatory, Quality & Safety, Clinical, Marketing, Communications, and Operational leaders both in Europe and globally to align policy initiatives with company objectives.
• Formulate coordinated engagement strategies with health authorities, regulators, and policy stakeholders to promote responsible innovation and patient access.
• Assist in planning for market entry and expansion into new European regions, including stakeholder mapping, political risk evaluation, and engagement strategy development.
• Prepare policy analyses, briefing documents, and position papers to guide internal decision-making and external engagement efforts.
• Lead our policy responses on sensitive or rapidly evolving issues, in close collaboration with Communications and Legal teams.
• At least 10 years of experience in government relations, public policy, or a closely related discipline, with significant time spent in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, digital health, technology, or life sciences sectors.
• Proven experience navigating European healthcare systems and policy landscapes across multiple markets, including engagement with EU institutions and at least one major national capital.
• Advanced degree in public policy, international relations, political science, law, economics, or a related area.
• Proficiency in an additional European language (German, French, or Spanish) is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated capability to utilize AI and emerging technologies to improve policy analysis, stakeholder insights, and operational efficiency.
• Familiarity with topics such as digital health and telemedicine policy, online pharmacy regulation, GLP-1 and obesity policy discussions, access to medicines and reimbursement, EU AI Act, and European Health Data Space, as well as rules on prescription drug advertising and promotion.
• Previous experience leading a region or functioning as an independent practitioner prior to scaling a team.
• A strong record of building stakeholder networks and managing relationships with external consultants, agencies, or trade associations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of briefing executives, regulators, and political stakeholders with clarity.
• Strong political and commercial acumen, along with the ability to provide candid internal guidance.
