This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Formulate and enhance department-level strategies in collaboration with the President and Senior Research Managers.

• Contribute to and implement Rethink Priorities’ overarching strategy.

• Assess, refine, and enhance theory-of-change models.

• Identify and provide guidance on significant impact opportunities and challenges.

• Consult with team members on major projects, programs, and deliverables.

• Collaborate with communications and fundraising staff on strategy communications as well as fundraising and grant application efforts.

• Organize and assist in leading at least one annual strategy retreat for the department.

• Establish and nurture relationships with current and prospective funders and clients.

• Conduct both warm and cold outreach to clients and fundraising prospects.

• Present Global Health and Development research services through calls, emails, and pertinent in-person meetings.

• Maintain connections with organizations, institutions, and individuals pertinent to the department.

• Monitor ongoing activities and progress with team members.

• Stay updated on relevant areas within the department.

• Keep organizational leadership informed on significant developments.

• Supervise the team’s research efforts and coordinate projects.

• Lead team strategy initiatives and manage projects with tight deadlines.

• Oversee other managers within the Global Health and Development department.

• Direct departmental hiring and staffing initiatives.

• Report directly to the President of Rethink Priorities.

• Extensive research and leadership experience.

• High degree of autonomy and comfort in overseeing research projects.

• Ability to evaluate methodological soundness and quality of evidence.

• Strategic and analytical thinking capabilities.

• Proficiency in documenting arguments, summarizing key insights, identifying uncertainties, and citing relevant sources.

• Strong self-management and time management skills.

• Expertise in project management and workflow organization.

• Effective collaboration and teamwork abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong outreach and networking skills.

• Capacity to comprehend and interpret statistical analysis outcomes.

• Experience or knowledge in fundraising and budgeting.

• Background in grant applications and proposal development.

• Strong organizational communication skills.

• Flexibility and adaptability to new information and viewpoints.

• Skills in performance management, including providing feedback, conducting evaluations, and addressing performance issues.

• Ability to foster an inclusive organizational culture.

• Professional-level proficiency in English is required.

• Availability to attend meetings during working hours between UTC-8 and UTC+1.

• Willingness to meet international travel requirements, including participation in the annual organization retreat.

• Preference for full-time availability; openness to part-time work of at least 32 hours per week.
