Director, Finance & Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and nurture the Accounting team by defining clear roles and performance expectations, regularly assessing the team's output, and addressing operational challenges.

• Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and punctuality of accounting functions, including the general ledger, monthly closing processes, reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

• Uphold robust accounting controls, such as the segregation of duties, banking security measures, transaction authorizations, and independent payment verification.

• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures, identify and mitigate financial risks and control deficiencies, and maintain compliance with relevant accounting standards, income tax reporting requirements, GAAP, and regulatory standards.

• Collaborate with external accountants regarding financial statement reviews, tax submissions, and compliance obligations.

• Drive enhancements to accounting systems, automation, and reporting mechanisms to facilitate Ascension's growth.

• Provide precise and timely monthly financial statements, comprehensive business-unit P&Ls, and insightful analyses of financial performance.

• Manage cash operations, banking partnerships, and insurance coverage.

• Spearhead annual budgeting processes and sustain continuous financial forecasts, encompassing revenue, profitability, expenses, and cash flow.

• Assist the CEO and department heads in grasping financial performance, comparing budgeted to actual results, and understanding the financial ramifications of strategic decisions.

• Counsel the CEO and leadership team on long-term financial planning, investment strategies, resource distribution, and strategic initiatives.

• Create financial models and reports that offer visibility into profitability across various business units, products, and channels.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with substantial responsibilities in accounting operations and financial reporting.

• Proven experience in roles such as Controller, Director of Accounting, Director of Finance, or similar senior financial leadership positions.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Shopify is preferred.

• Experience in inventory-driven businesses, manufacturing, publishing, or distribution is preferred.

• Occasional travel to Ascension’s headquarters is required.
