Director, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist in the development, planning, and execution of safety and related policies and procedures for 5-10 companies with a workforce ranging from 3,000 to 6,000 employees.

• Oversee designated companies to ensure adherence to company policies and compliance with local, state, and federal workplace regulations.

• Offer support to maintain safety documentation and fulfill required recordkeeping.

• Collaborate with the safety leadership of assigned companies to analyze, develop, and implement action plans.

• Evaluate the incident management processes, data, and related actions of assigned companies for their effectiveness.

• Identify hazards and provide recommendations for incident prevention to the leadership of operating companies.

• Support assigned companies and coordinate with relevant internal parties during investigations of serious injuries or incidents.

• Oversee and assist with the execution of applicable EMCOR safety, quality, productivity, fleet management, or other initiatives.

• Assess incident reports for assigned companies to ensure completeness, accuracy, and effectiveness, guiding operating company leadership to recognize and implement corrective measures.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) or equivalent trade experience is required.

• BCSP or other certifications such as CSP, CHST, CESCP, etc., or the ability to obtain such certifications is advantageous.

• A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in mitigating risks within a dynamic, hazardous, and labor-intensive industry.

• Strong knowledge of, or the capability to acquire knowledge of, local, state, and federal environmental health and safety regulations and practices in construction and general industry applications.

• A solid understanding of business processes.

• Excellent interpersonal, management, communication, writing, and organizational skills.

• Proficiency in utilizing safety-related enterprise software, with experience in data analysis and application.

• Experience operating independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.

• Proven ability to plan and manage extensive travel and associated logistics.

• Experience interacting effectively with others through virtual platforms (MS Teams, Webex, Zoom).

• Familiarity with MS 365 applications.

• Willingness to travel extensively, approximately 60-80%, to operating companies in various locations.
