Director, Environmental Health and Safety

📋 Description

• Developing, implementing, and supporting corporate safety programs while ensuring compliance across GAF.

• Leading the strategy and managing the execution of safety and corporate EHS initiatives throughout GAF.

• Designing, creating, and overseeing high-quality and effective EHS learning solutions, training tools, and EHS curricula.

• Setting organizational objectives based on gap analysis, prioritizing issues, and creating projects to meet goals while ensuring compliance with government regulations.

• Acting as a crucial member of the EHS team, responsible for aiding in the implementation of GAF safety and health strategies, policies, standards, compliance, and management initiatives.

• Assessing the effectiveness of initiatives through safety evaluations and analyzing data to identify gaps.

• Formulating and executing action plans as needed to reduce risks.

• Contributing to the establishment of business goals and objectives.

• Promoting a culture of openness and information sharing to enhance awareness, transparency, and diligence regarding safety and health issues.

• Enhancing employee understanding of safety requirements and hazard reduction through training and ongoing communication with Leadership.

• Maintaining and supporting the ongoing development of the GAF Incident Management System, including creating monthly performance reports to showcase safety progress, performance, and challenges.

• Leading compliance audits and evaluations of operations to assess adherence to GAF policies and procedures, collaborating closely with leadership to determine corrective actions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Safety, Engineering, or a related field.

• Postgraduate degree preferred.

• 10 years of EHS experience, with 5 years in a management role required.

• Capability to effectively adjust to changing needs and priorities while maintaining a positive attitude focused on client success.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills used to build relationships and trust with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Must possess outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication, listening, and presentation abilities, including the capacity to effectively present and discuss technical information and address inquiries from employees, government representatives, and customers.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trust and relationships.

• Proven openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability.

• Ability to inspire teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite Office.

• Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

• Commitment and engagement through a high level of work ethic and utilizing abilities for the benefit of the company.

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
