This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise software engineering across various device-side product domains, including field operations, device management tools, patient engagement technology in exam rooms, waiting-room displays, and back-office systems.
• Take ownership of engineering results across multiple device product domains.
• Manage senior Engineering Leads, individual-contributing engineers, and both full-time and contract engineers.
• Oversee hiring processes, performance evaluations, and career development.
• Lead code reviews and actively contribute to coding when necessary.
• Advocate for AI-assisted and agentic engineering methodologies.
• Coordinate priorities and dependencies across three or more simultaneous product domains.
• Represent device product areas in architecture reviews and make decisions regarding architectural trade-offs.
• Mentor engineers and Engineering Leads in their roles and career trajectories.
• Represent engineering in collaboration with Product and Design leadership during planning sessions.
• Collaborate on organizational structure and resource allocation.
• Communicate product-area health and staffing requirements to executive stakeholders.
• Over 12 years of experience in software engineering.
• More than 4 years of experience in leading engineering teams.
• Proven track record of owning outcomes across three or more simultaneous product areas or technical domains.
• Experience managing senior technical/architectural leads, individual-contributing engineers, and both full-time and contract engineers across both onshore and offshore teams.
• Direct accountability for hiring, performance management, and career development.
• Hands-on experience with Android software, including custom Android ROMs, MDM, and IoT device communication protocols such as AWS IoT Core and BLE/GATT.
• Understanding of device limitations such as restricted resources, intermittent connectivity, remote updates and rollbacks, and multiple Android releases.
• Experience with front-end frameworks using JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Familiarity with backend services like Kotlin/HTTP4k, Node/serverless, or equivalent JVM/Node microservices.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.
• Proven ability to drive AI-assisted or agentic practices within an engineering team.
• Capability to lead teams, deliver product features, and enhance software quality and development methodologies.
• Skill in evaluating architecture and code from staff-level engineers.
• Ability to establish engineering best practices, operational excellence, and execution discipline.
• Experience in leading through organizational changes and team transitions.
• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
