This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +2 more states.
• Formulate, execute, and manage the strategic vision of the Employee Relations department.
• Lead, mentor, and nurture a team of Employee Relations Managers and Specialists.
• Provide counsel to senior HR executives, top leadership, and legal advisors on critical employee relations issues.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment regulations across all 50 US states.
• Review, revise, and implement HR policies and procedures.
• Identify trends, risks, and potential vulnerabilities in employee relations.
• Collaborate with legal counsel on intricate terminations, administrative leaves, transition agreements, and legal claims.
• Conduct high-level, sensitive, and complex workplace investigations.
• Supervise the investigation process from initial intake through to resolution.
• Advise HR business partners and organizational leaders on complicated performance management processes, including Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and formal warnings.
• Create and deliver leadership training focused on employment law compliance, performance management, conflict resolution, and fostering positive work environments.
• Assist in navigating organizational changes, restructuring, and realignments through effective communication plans and transition support.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, Employment Law, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of progressive HR experience.
• 5 to 7 years specifically focused on Employee Relations and compliance with employment law.
• At least 3 years of experience leading and developing a remote HR/ER team.
• Demonstrated experience managing employee relations for a widely distributed, multi-state workforce across all 50 US states.
• Proficiency in navigating employment laws and formulating HR policies.
• Advanced skills in conducting and managing complex, high-risk workplace investigations.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to draft sensitive documents, including agreements, executive summaries, and communication scripts.
• Skill in influencing stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
• Willingness to travel may be necessary.
• SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or certifications in Employee Relations/Workplace Investigations such as AWI-CH are highly preferred.
