📋 Description

• Oversee Corporate EHS and Workers’ Compensation efforts to assist divisions and facilities in implementing and sustaining a robust EHS management system.

• Lead the Spartech EHS Management System across global facilities.

• Create EHS initiatives and programs to ensure adherence to federal, state, local, and company regulations and standards.

• Advise and engage with senior management and plant leadership regarding the status and initiatives related to EHS and Workers’ Compensation.

• Administer the EHS budget effectively.

• Evaluate EHS program activities to determine relevance, success, opportunities for improvement, and compliance.

• Compile EHS reports and presentations for senior management dissemination.

• Generate governmental reports while ensuring precision of information.

• Develop and uphold the company’s health and safety management system.

• Set annual EHS targets and goals, managing recognition and incentive programs accordingly.

• Formulate EHS performance metrics and maintain external communications with public officials, media, and customers.

• Collaborate with regional EHS staff, operating divisions, and health and safety coordinators to execute company policies and programs.

• Provide consultation throughout the organization on areas for improvement, compliance, and continuous enhancement objectives.

• Conduct audits of health and safety management systems, communicate findings, and ensure follow-up on corrective actions.

• Work with executive staff and business-unit leaders to keep the EHS program in focus and encourage employee engagement.

• Maintain regular attendance and perform additional assignments as required.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, safety sciences, or a related field.

• At least 10 years of experience and/or training in environmental, health, and safety within a production setting.

• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory and project leadership experience.

• In-depth regulatory knowledge in EHS domains and management systems.

• Capability to apply regulatory and standards knowledge to practical solutions that align with company objectives.

• Proficiency in influencing others, managing direct reports, and driving continuous safety improvements.

• Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• Competence in reading and interpreting scientific and technical literature, financial/business reports, and legal documents.

• Ability to address inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory bodies, businesses, or community members.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills suitable for all organizational levels.

• Capacity to manage multiple priorities concurrently.

• Proficient in translating business strategies into clear objectives and tactics.

• Skill in identifying underlying issues and root causes.

• Ability to make challenging decisions when required.

• Competent in using metrics and performance measures to monitor progress.

• Process-oriented and strategic thinking capabilities.

• Self-driven, able to act independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Proficient in communicating long-term compliance requirements across various management levels.

• Ability to identify and address complex technical and organizational challenges.

• Professional EHS registration or certification, such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM, is preferred but not mandatory.

• A Master’s degree is advantageous but not essential.
