This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Take ownership of design quality and outcomes throughout the digital portfolio.
• Spearhead product design across Safelite’s digital ecosystem, which includes consumer experiences, partner and commercial interactions, associate and technician tools, as well as AI and agentic experiences.
• Establish and uphold the experience standards for interaction design, content, accessibility, and visual quality across all squads and surfaces.
• Convert customer insights, business strategies, and product directions into clear experiential guidance for designers to implement.
• Make informed design tradeoffs based on customer impact, business value, technical feasibility, and operational realities, ensuring these tradeoffs are transparent to leadership.
• Link design decisions to quantifiable outcomes such as conversion rates, containment, self-service completion, customer satisfaction, and associate efficiency.
• Build and lead the product design team.
• Mentor, coach, and develop a team of product designers across consumer, partner, commercial, associate and technician, and agentic surfaces.
• Set explicit expectations for craftsmanship, product judgment, collaboration, and execution, maintaining high standards.
• Enhance team capabilities in discovery, experimentation, prototyping, service design, and AI-enabled design.
• Guide designers in effectively using AI throughout the product lifecycle, including research synthesis, concept generation, prototyping, and iteration.
• Advance the design system into a scalable experience framework.
• Transform Safelite’s design system from a component library into a unified experience system that promotes consistency across journeys, platforms, and touchpoints.
• Define and manage shared patterns, components, accessibility standards, and design principles utilized across all squads.
• Enhance the design-to-development handoff and implementation quality through collaboration with Engineering.
• Establish essential rituals such as critique, documentation, and review to scale design quality without hindering team progress.
• Drive AI-enabled and adaptive experience design.
• Collaborate with AI and Agentic product leadership to craft Scarlett, Gray, and Chad as reliable, valuable, and customer-centric experiences.
• Create reusable UX patterns suited for the AI era, including conversational design, guided decision-making, confidence states, fallback logic, and human handoff.
• Assist teams in determining where AI should automate, assist, recommend, escalate, or remain uninvolved.
• Simplify complex agentic capabilities into intuitive experiences that address genuine customer and associate needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Over 8 years of experience in product design, UX design, interaction design, or service design.
• At least 3 years of experience leading or managing product designers, with a proven ability to elevate the craft across a team.
• A strong portfolio showcasing customer-facing digital products across web, mobile, and responsive surfaces, demonstrating measurable customer and business impact.
• Proficient in using digital analytics platforms (such as Quantum Metric, Heap, Amplitude, FullStory, or similar), with the ability to conduct your own analysis and develop insights from the data.
• Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, auto-layout, and contributions to design systems.
• Proven ability to utilize AI throughout the product lifecycle, including strategy development, discovery, customer signal analysis, research synthesis, prototyping, and testing.
• Experience in evolving or scaling a design system across multiple products and teams.
• Strong collaboration skills with product partners; you work alongside PMs and Engineering as peers rather than in a downstream capacity.
• Capability to link design decisions to customer outcomes and business metrics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and provide structure to complex experience challenges.
