Director, Digital Manufacturing Innovation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Drive digital innovation initiatives across Amgen Manufacturing on a global scale.

• Recognize manufacturing prospects where digital products, data, analytics, and AI can deliver value.

• Develop and oversee the digital manufacturing innovation portfolio.

• Guide initiatives from conception and pilot phases through to supported deployment, adoption, and network growth.

• Formulate product teams, ensure business accountability, maintain reliable data, implement effective solutions, and achieve measurable results for key priorities.

• Manage a global team and work in collaboration with manufacturing sites, Digital Site Leaders, product owners, Engineering, Process Development, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Technology, AI and Data, as well as Amgen India delivery teams.

• Establish the global DMI roadmap and prioritize opportunities related to digital, data, analytics, AI, and automation.

• Identify manufacturing requirements, desired outcomes, roadmaps, delivery priorities, testing, release readiness, user experience, support, and lifecycle management.

• Implement data ownership, stewardship, standardized definitions, data quality benchmarks, and integration across manufacturing systems.

• Determine priorities for AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, and generative AI within the manufacturing sector.

• Strategize deployment waves, readiness, training, launch support, stabilization, adoption, and value realization in collaboration with sites and enterprise partners.

• Assess adoption, business impact, benefits, and sustained outcomes.

• Assemble, lead, and nurture a global team of professionals specializing in digital products, data, and innovation.

• Offer recommendations, escalations, trade-offs, decisions, risks, and progress reports to senior leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of experience in Engineering, Operations, or Digital Technology OR Master’s degree and 7 years of experience in Engineering, Operations, or Digital Technology OR Doctorate degree and 4 years of experience in Engineering, Operations, or Digital Technology.

• Proven experience leading digital, data, or technology transformation within a global biopharmaceutical manufacturing network.

• Solid understanding of GxP operations, validation, and data integrity.

• Experience in advancing digital products or AI and analytics solutions from concept to supported production and across multiple sites.

• Background in establishing business data ownership and stewardship, standardized definitions, data quality benchmarks, and integration within manufacturing systems and enterprise platforms.

• Expertise in applying AI, machine learning, generative AI, or predictive analytics in a manufacturing context.

• Familiarity with readiness testing, human oversight, and continuous monitoring.

• Proven leadership in managing people, developing talent, overseeing portfolios, and coordinating across global teams and delivery partners.

• Strong judgment in business and financial matters, change leadership, and skills in continuous improvement.

• Proficient in executive communication, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution.

• Willingness to work across various regions and time zones and to travel as business needs dictate.
