Director, Data Modernization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the technical architecture for modernization projects, including Azure Databricks design, data landing zones, networking, and security controls.

• Guide and mentor a team of data engineers and cloud/infrastructure engineers.

• Spearhead technical discovery and source data evaluations for new projects.

• Review and authorize all engineering outputs across multiple simultaneous projects.

• Personally lead the architecture and construction of the most intricate projects.

• Establish engineering quality benchmarks and influence architectural choices throughout the modernization initiative.

• Continuously update and enhance the technical engagement playbook.

• Ensure that environments fulfill handoff criteria for the Client Integration team.

• Collaborate with Data Mapping Analysts to assess and validate source data.

• This position necessitates travel to healthcare client locations for project kickoffs, technical discovery sessions, and significant milestones.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 6 years of experience in data engineering or data platform roles, showcasing proven technical leadership.

• Extensive expertise in Azure technologies: Databricks, ADLS2, Azure networking, managed identities, Terraform/Bicep.

• Proficient in data platform design and implementation (greenfield projects).

• Experience in client-facing roles — adept at leading technical discussions with health system IT teams.
