This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Develop and oversee the operational framework of our data organization.
β’ Manage the complete data product lifecycle, from ingestion to utilization.
β’ Lead our data engineering teams (Bronze/Silver/Gold architecture), the reporting function, and a versatile contractor team dedicated to our highest-priority data projects.
β’ Collaborate across the organization to provide the data each team requires to perform their tasks.
β’ Work closely with our Analytics & Data Science team.
β’ Take ownership of the strategy, roadmap, and implementation of our data platform.
β’ Define and uphold data products across our Bronze/Silver/Gold architecture.
β’ Manage the protocol for handoffs from Analytics.
β’ Establish and operationalize a data governance framework.
β’ Foster a culture where "trusted data" is an essential standard.
β’ Oversee both internal and customer-facing reporting.
β’ Implement review and quality assurance processes that instill confidence in every number stakeholders encounter.
β’ Design and enhance the Gold layer as the primary consumption layer for AI, ML, and product applications.
β’ Lead and nurture an internal team along with flexible contractor support.
β’ 8β12+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform, or analytics engineering positions, including at least 3β5 years in a leadership role.
β’ Proven experience in building or enhancing a data governance framework in a production setting.
β’ A track record of operationalizing data products from research or experimental outputs into reliable, governed production systems.
β’ Experience with modern data stack tools (e.g., dbt, Snowflake/Databricks/BigQuery, Airflow or similar, data catalog tools).
β’ Established ability to integrate within and gain trust from business stakeholders β managing upwards, downwards, and laterally across the organization.
β’ Strong project and product management skills β capable of providing structure and delivery discipline to technically proficient but execution-challenged teams.
β’ Technically credible enough to earn respect from skilled data engineers without needing to be the top engineer in the room.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) and the distinct needs of different consumers across each layer.
β’ Familiarity with AI/ML data requirements β including feature stores, model monitoring, data versioning, and the practical implications of "AI-ready" data.
