This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the long-term corporate development strategy in close collaboration with the CEO, CFO, and senior leadership.
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of the competitive landscape and emerging business models within our key verticals, providing insights to the executive team on market opportunities and unexplored areas.
• Proactively identify, assess, and prioritize acquisition and partnership opportunities in targeted verticals, utilizing extensive industry knowledge and networks.
• Establish and maintain a strong pipeline of targets, ensuring a balance of strategic alignment, financial return, and integration potential.
• Collaborate with the CEO, CFO, and executive team to align targets with strategic growth initiatives.
• Manage all phases of the deal process — from initial outreach and valuation through due diligence, negotiation, and closing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, Product, GTM) to evaluate deal synergies, risks, and integration needs.
• Develop and present investment cases and recommendations to the executive team.
• Continuously track market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging business models within target sectors.
• Identify adjacency plays and “build vs. buy” opportunities that can enhance Updater’s competitive advantage.
• Provide guidance to GTM teams on strategic business development opportunities.
• Foster and maintain senior-level relationships across investment banks, private equity, venture capital, and industry operators to boost deal flow.
• Represent Updater as a thought leader in key sectors at conferences, panels, and industry events.
• Oversee M&A integration planning and execution for acquired companies to ensure smooth onboarding, value realization, and cultural alignment.
• Collaborate with functional leaders to establish post-close KPIs and monitor acquisition performance against deal theses.
• Work in partnership with the Strategic Finance team to model acquisition opportunities, including detailed three-statement financial models, revenue and cost synergies, and working capital needs.
• 7+ years of experience in corporate development, M&A, investment banking, private equity, or venture capital.
• Strong understanding of Generative AI and Agentic Commerce.
• Demonstrated success in sourcing, structuring, and closing acquisitions in relevant industries.
• Extensive network of relationships across private equity, venture capital, and corporate dealmakers.
• Strong financial acumen, with the capability to develop and assess complex valuation models and ROI analyses.
• Experience in leading due diligence, negotiation, and integration in both buy-side and sell-side scenarios.
• Exceptional strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate business objectives into executable deal strategies.
• Business development experience is preferred.
• Strong communication and influencing skills; capable of articulating deal rationale and value creation opportunities to executives, boards, and external stakeholders.
• Empathetic, pragmatic, and collaborative leadership approach.
