Director, Corporate Affairs – Global Product Communications, Alzheimer’s Disease

📋 Description

• Act as the communications consultant to the Product Development and Commercialization Leads for the Alzheimer’s Disease franchise, while also serving as the communications lead for external partnerships.

• Collaborate with all affiliates, including North America, to incorporate customer insights into the creation of global integrated communications plans and offer worldwide guidance.

• Proactively monitor and foresee potential issues, leading the corporate affairs response from scenario planning through escalation and crisis communications.

• Create narratives and messaging platforms driven by patient and marketing insights for the franchise and specific products that set Biogen’s programs and strategy apart.

• Compose and oversee the review process for all Alzheimer’s Disease communications (such as news releases, Q&As, social media content, intranet articles, and sponsored materials) to support the overarching narrative.

• Direct the development and implementation of comprehensive, multi-channel pre-launch and launch communications strategies and market-shaping initiatives across digital, internal, external, and traditional media.

• Manage the flow of news related to anticipated announcements and proactive storytelling opportunities.

• Identify and coordinate spokespersons (including Biogen leaders, KMEs, patients, and advocates).

• Responsible for cultivating and sustaining relationships with additional key internal and external stakeholders – such as Biogen advocacy teams – to ensure collaboration and alignment with business goals.

• Supervise external communication agencies to guarantee timely, high-quality, and brand-consistent deliverables.

• Establish measurable objectives to assess the impact and effectiveness of communication strategies.

• Keep abreast of internal and external developments and industry trends to ensure timely and relevant communications, providing insights pertinent to business strategies.

• Oversee and track communication budgets to ensure strategic distribution and cost-effectiveness.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.

• Over 10 years of experience in global pharmaceutical or biotechnology product communications.

• Significant experience in pre-launch and product launch initiatives, particularly in managing large awareness-driven campaigns and high-profile, first-to-market approvals.

• Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards in healthcare communications.

• Proven track record in leading integrated, multi-channel communication strategies.

• Experience in collaborative and decisive partnerships with external parties on joint asset initiatives (including research and commercial agreements).

• Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and managing agency/vendor relationships.

• Experience in overseeing advocacy or similar programs.

• Familiarity with developing internal communication assets.

• Ability to navigate a dynamic, matrixed organizational structure.

• Experience in media relations and engaging with journalists and trade publications.

• A combination of in-house and agency experience.

• Strong analytical abilities to measure and enhance communication performance.

• Advanced understanding of digital communication platforms and the application of trends to improve communication efforts.
