This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +6 more states.
• Lead the structured gathering of requirements in collaboration with clinical, pharmacy, front office, revenue cycle, quality, and compliance stakeholders.
• Organize and facilitate workshops, workflow walkthroughs, and design sessions.
• Convert operational and clinical needs into functional and technical specifications.
• Create and maintain workflow maps, user stories, configuration workbooks, requirements traceability matrices, and test scripts.
• Manage the review and approval of requirements; oversee scope, change requests, and downstream impact analysis.
• Assess configuration, integration, third-party solutions, or process-change options and present trade-offs in terms of cost, risk, and effort.
• Supervise the interfaces and data exchange among clinical, pharmacy, laboratory, e-prescribing, PDMP, dispensing, reporting, and analytics systems.
• Assist in managing eligibility, claims, and remittance transaction flows through clearinghouse and payer channels.
• Monitor interface queues and handle errors; lead root-cause analysis and remediation efforts.
• Develop and validate SQL reports and data extracts; ensure maintenance of operational, regulatory, and executive reporting, extracts, and dashboards.
• Take ownership of data validation for migrations and system changes, including reconciliation, field-level validation, exception reporting, and sign-off criteria.
• Maintain the enterprise data dictionary and source-to-target mapping; investigate issues related to data integrity.
• Present findings, methodologies, and limitations to clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders.
• Act as the technical lead for site migrations to the target EHR platform, overseeing extraction, mapping, conversion testing, load validation, cutover, go-live support, and stabilization.
• Define and implement validation protocols for high-risk clinical and financial data.
• Coordinate build, testing, and training readiness for phased go-lives.
• Document and escalate migration risks, defects, and decisions; keep logs of issues.
• Directly supervise two Clinical Applications Analysts, including task assignment, prioritization, performance management, coaching, and development.
• Set standards for intake, triage, and service level; balance project work with production escalations.
• Enhance team capabilities in configuration, testing, and documentation; foster cross-coverage.
• Collaborate with help desk and implementation teams for project-to-support handoffs.
• Manage technical relationships with application vendors, including upgrades, regression testing, and defect resolution.
• Ensure that configurations and documentation comply with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, DEA, SAMHSA, state OTP, licensure, accreditation, and payer requirements.
• Maintain audit-ready records of configuration changes, access reviews, validation testing, and system decisions.
• Communicate project status, risks, decisions, and performance metrics to the Vice President of Clinical Applications and senior leadership.
• A Bachelor's degree in health informatics, information systems, computer science, healthcare administration, or a related field is required; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• At least seven (7) years of progressive experience in clinical application configuration, systems analysis, or EHR implementation is required.
• A minimum of two (2) years of direct people leadership or formal project leadership experience is required.
• Proven ownership of end-to-end requirements gathering for clinical or enterprise software projects is required.
• Hands-on configuration experience with at least one enterprise EHR or practice management platform is required.
• Experience in supporting multi-site EHR implementation, consolidation, or data migration is required.
• Working knowledge of interfaces and integration (HL7, FHIR, API, SFTP) is required.
• Demonstrated hands-on SQL experience is required and will be assessed during the interview process.
• Advanced knowledge of electronic health record and practice management system architecture, configuration, and release management.
• Proficient in requirements elicitation and documentation methods, including workflow mapping, user stories, functional specifications, and traceability.
• Familiarity with healthcare integration standards and technologies, including HL7 v2, FHIR, APIs, and secure file transfer.
• Advanced, hands-on SQL skills, including multi-table joins, subqueries, common table expressions, aggregation, and window functions.
• Understanding of healthcare EDI transactions and clearinghouse operations.
• Knowledge of behavioral health and substance use disorder clinical workflows, documentation, and billing requirements.
• Demonstrated project management abilities, including planning, resourcing, risk management, and structured status reporting to executive stakeholders.
• Proven capability to lead, develop, and hold accountable a small technical team.
• Demonstrated data fluency and the ability to credibly present results to executives.
• Experience in creating reports, extracts, or dashboards used by operational or executive leadership is required.
• Willingness to travel to clinic sites as necessary for implementations, go-lives, and workflow assessments.
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder, or OTP platforms is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of OTP and OBOT operations, including methadone and buprenorphine dispensing workflows, take-home regulations, and 42 CFR Part 2, is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with a healthcare clearinghouse and knowledge of revenue cycle workflows is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as CPHIMS, CAHIMS, PMP, Certified Scrum Product Owner, Six Sigma, or vendor-specific application certification are preferred.
