This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
• Oversee the Technical Operations team to support the production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, intermediates, and drug product intermediates at external contract manufacturing sites within the region.
• Provide guidance and expertise in areas such as technical oversight, portfolio management, continuous improvement, and the development and enhancement of organizational capabilities.
• Ensure technical excellence in regular supply assistance to contract manufacturers.
• Direct the technical initiatives necessary for improving competitiveness through focused process optimization.
• Enhance organizational capability in Proactive Process Monitoring to support robust manufacturing operations and facilitate the early identification of process challenges.
• Cultivate a culture of sharing, curiosity, learning, and holistic thinking regarding new technologies, methodologies, and product introductions.
• Establish a strong technical network of internal and external resources, readily available to address complex problems in a collaborative manner.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Pharmaceutical Sciences) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry; or a Master's degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience; or a PhD with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Proven leadership experience in one or more areas such as Technical Operations, Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality Operations, or Engineering.
• Demonstrated experience with traditional API processing along with the introduction of new technologies and methodologies.
• Knowledge of biocatalysts, enzyme manufacturing, flow chemistry, processing of highly potent compounds, or sterile/low bioburden DS manufacturing is advantageous.
• The candidate must ensure the development of strong technical capabilities for new products during acquisition and commercialization, along with the realization of an appropriate control strategy.
• This role requires frequent travel, approximately 25% of the time.
