Director, Accounting Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +34 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily financial accounting and reporting operations for a major business segment.

• Manage Medicare Advantage Plans, Capital Assets, and Home Care services.

• Lead a team consisting of five Accountants and Senior Accountants.

• Recruit, train, perform performance assessments, and guide staff workflow.

• Establish and implement strategic goals and objectives.

• Ensure timely and precise general ledger closing, financial reporting, and reconciliations across multiple facilities and designated business lines.

• Maintain the financial reporting database and offer training to accounting and business-line personnel.

• Complete or review reconciliations for general ledger accounts, including those needed for annual external audits.

• Act as a technical advisor on accounting and reporting matters.

• Ensure consistent application of GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.

• Investigate and rectify errors, including those related to system configurations and procedural challenges.

• Engage in the design, implementation, training, and testing of new financial applications and process automation.

• Assist corporate operations and resolve business-line issues.

• Collaborate with department managers, operations CFOs, finance teams, IT, and external auditors.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is mandatory.

• A minimum of seven years of experience in healthcare, encompassing general ledger accounting and advanced reporting systems.

• Exceptional analytical and communication abilities.

• Capability to work independently and effectively organize, coordinate, and inspire a team.

• In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

• Familiarity with financial reporting and database management.

• Proficiency in utilizing complex spreadsheets.

• An MBA is preferred.

• A CPA is preferred.

• Additional relevant education and/or experience is preferred.
