• Retrieve and oversee commission statements from insurance carriers through portals, email, and postal mail, working with internal teams to resolve any missing or delayed statements.
• Ensure the prompt and accurate entry of direct bill commissions utilizing internal systems or outsourced partners.
• Post and reconcile commission downloads, import files, and direct bill statements to client accounts and the general ledger.
• Document commission receipts from checks and electronic deposits, ensuring accurate alignment with corresponding statements.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations between the general ledger and recorded commission activity to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.
• Monitor daily bank transactions to verify that all direct bill commissions are recorded and any discrepancies are addressed without delay.
• Collaborate with client service teams to investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and posting exceptions.
• Escalate complicated or unresolved discrepancies to leadership, providing comprehensive documentation and analysis.
• 1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally within an insurance brokerage setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and principles of financial reporting.
• Experience in reconciling financial data, including general ledger accounts and commission activities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including handling large data sets and utilizing pivot tables.
• Familiarity with accounting and agency management systems (e.g., EPIC, Business Central, BenefitPoint) is preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders effectively.
