This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Processes release-of-information requests by obtaining patient medical charts, accurately scanning and transmitting records, and returning charts in accordance with established protocols, quality standards, and daily productivity goals.
• Engages with requestors to determine necessary medical records for patient care, review, billing, or information release.
• Confirms requests and authorizations for the release of medical information following established procedures.
• Conducts quality checks on all tasks to ensure the accuracy of the release, confidentiality, and appropriate invoicing.
• Delivers exceptional customer service by being attentive and respectful, ensuring comprehensive understanding of customer requests, following through on promises, and proactively identifying and resolving client concerns or issues.
• Manages all requests and inquiries for patient health information received via mail, fax, phone, or in person according to our service level agreements (SLAs).
• Consistently operates within the boundaries of the role and organizational direction. Accepts assignments readily and remains dependable and available to support additional facilities or assist during peak workload periods.
• Acts as a subject matter expert in Release of Information while handling complex duties, including processing requests for Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Adheres to all federal and state regulations, facility policies, and company procedures regarding the release of information and patient privacy.
• Protects patient health information at all times.
• May receive incoming requests, including telephone inquiries and facsimile requests, based on client needs.
• Maintains equipment in excellent operational condition, both internally and externally, ensuring reliability and optimal performance.
• Follows hospital protocols and privacy policies to uphold the strict confidentiality of all protected health information (PHI).
• Over 5 years of relevant experience in Health Information Management (HIM) and/or Release of Information.
• More than 5 years of experience with electronic health record (EHR) processing, specifically with Meditech and/or Epic.
• Strong ability to prioritize workflow, maintain organization, and meet deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must possess substantial computer software proficiency—general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
