DevOps – Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• This role is a hands-on, fixed-term contract that operates at the crossroads of Platform Engineering and Cloud Networking.

• The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, constructing, and standardizing AWS-native networking functionalities as part of a critical Cloud Networking project, transitioning from legacy controls to scalable, policy-driven frameworks and embedding networking into platform pipelines.

• A typical day in this position involves designing and implementing cloud networking patterns across AWS CloudWAN, VPC Lattice, and AWS Network Firewall.

• Legacy network controls (such as NACLs) will be replaced with centralized, policy-driven methods that can scale throughout the organization.

• Develop reusable and well-documented Terraform modules for network provisioning, policy enforcement, and governance.

• Integrate networking functionalities into platform pipelines and service onboarding processes.

• Work closely with the Networking team to ensure alignment on routing design, security protocols, and engineering standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of AWS networking, including VPC design, routing (BGP/static), CloudWAN, Network Firewall, and VPC Lattice.

• Proficient in advanced Terraform skills, particularly in writing and maintaining reusable modules at an enterprise level.

• Solid understanding of cloud networking principles, including DNS, load balancing, firewall policies, and east-west/north-south traffic flows.

• Proven experience in both DevOps/Platform Engineering and Networking fields.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and the integration of infrastructure-as-code into automated delivery processes.

• Experience with AWS PrivateLink, Route 53 Resolver, or AWS Control Tower is desirable.

• Knowledge of network observability tools (e.g., VPC Flow Logs, CloudWatch, network performance monitoring) is a plus.

• Exposure to zero-trust networking concepts or service mesh architectures is an added advantage.
