DevOps Engineer / SRE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.

📋 Description

• Primarily engage with on-premise infrastructure (bare metal and virtual machines): setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

• Provide clarity in uncertain situations by outlining requirements, assumptions, and subsequent actions.

• Manage automation projects throughout their lifecycle (design → rollout → maintenance).

• Enhance operational efficiency: fortify and fine-tune systems while improving team workflows regarding operational hygiene.

• Ensure the platform remains stable, efficient, and secure: including servers, web servers, databases, and queues.

• Investigate production incidents across OS, networking, and infrastructure layers, applying temporary solutions, collaborating with developers, and participating in post-mortem analyses.

• Engage in on-call rotations.

• Integrate AI into daily operations: researching, troubleshooting, and development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer (or closely related roles).

• Practical, hands-on experience with servers (both VMs and bare metal) at the operating system level and below: configuring, troubleshooting, and investigating root causes of issues.

• Strong Linux skills (we utilize Ubuntu). Familiarity with essential tools from Linux Crisis Tools is expected.

• Solid grasp of networking fundamentals; capability to configure and troubleshoot iptables.

• Proficiency in Ansible and Git.

• Experience with Bash or Python scripting for automation and observability tasks.

• Experience in production/on-call roles: diagnosing incidents, restoring services, and engaging in post-mortem discussions.

• Strong sense of ownership and meticulous attention to detail. Downtime is costly: five years ago, 10 minutes of downtime resulted in a $100k loss — today, the cost is even higher.
