DevOps Engineer / SRE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus.

📋 Description

• Primarily engage with on-premise infrastructure (bare metal and VMs): setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

• Provide clarity in ambiguous situations by outlining requirements, assumptions, and subsequent actions.

• Take ownership of automation projects from start to finish (design → rollout → maintenance).

• Enhance operational practices: strengthen and optimize systems while also refining team workflows in terms of operational hygiene.

• Ensure the platform remains stable, fast, and secure: including servers, web servers, databases, and queues.

• Investigate production incidents across OS, networking, and infrastructure layers; implement temporary solutions, collaborate with developers, and contribute to post-mortems.

• Participate in on-call rotations.

• Leverage AI in all day-to-day activities: including research, troubleshooting, and development.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer / SRE (or closely related responsibilities).

• Genuine hands-on experience with servers (VMs, bare metal) at the OS level and below: configuring, troubleshooting, and investigating “why it’s broken.”

• Strong Linux skills (we utilize Ubuntu), with comfort in using core tools from Linux Crisis Tools.

• Solid grasp of networking fundamentals; capability to configure and troubleshoot iptables.

• Proficiency in Ansible and Git.

• Experience with Bash or Python scripting for automation and observability purposes.

• Production/on-call experience: diagnosing incidents, restoring services, and engaging in post-mortems.

• A strong sense of ownership and attention to detail. Downtime is costly: five years ago, 10 minutes of downtime cost us $100k — today, the cost is even higher.
