DevOps Engineer, Ruby on Rails

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain reliable and scalable distributed systems.

• Enhance system availability, performance, and resilience.

• Automate infrastructure, deployment processes, and operational tasks.

• Identify and resolve production issues effectively.

• Lead system upgrades and migrations ensuring minimal or no downtime.

• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents.

• Work closely with development teams to enhance system operability.

• Promote best practices in monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning.

• Minimize operational toil through automation efforts.

• Contribute to incident management, post-mortem analysis, disaster recovery planning, and ongoing reliability improvements.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience, with a focus on Kubernetes and AWS.

• Proficient in programming with Ruby.

• Strong grasp of concurrency, runtime behavior, and performance optimization techniques.

• Practical experience with Docker and containerized applications.

• In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes (Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, Ingress, Helm, troubleshooting, autoscaling).

• Extensive experience with AWS services (EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, Load Balancers, CloudWatch).

• Proven experience in designing infrastructure for high availability and disaster recovery.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or similar).

• Experience with messaging systems like RabbitMQ or alternatives (Kafka, SQS, Pulsar, etc.).

• Strong understanding of relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), including query optimization, replication, and failover strategies.

• Knowledge of NoSQL and in-memory databases (Redis, DynamoDB, MongoDB).

• Experience in distributed systems, microservices, capacity planning, and fault tolerance.

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK/OpenSearch, OpenTelemetry).

• Solid understanding of Linux systems and networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, load balancing).

• Experience with SRE practices, such as SLOs/SLIs/SLAs, load testing, resilience testing, and incident management.

• Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative mindset across engineering teams.

• Remain calm and effective during incidents with a strong ownership attitude.
