DevOps Engineer, GitHub Migration Projects

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Transition source code repositories from GitHub Enterprise Server, BitBucket, or GitLab to GitHub Enterprise Cloud.

• Collaborate with client engineers and leadership to collect requirements and provide updates.

• Develop and document a migration strategy, including tools and automation processes.

• Work alongside project management to plan and implement migration phases.

• Evaluate current GitHub Enterprise Server configurations and repository metadata to ensure precise migration.

• Resolve issues related to file sizes, compatibility, network connectivity, or permissions during the migration process.

• Create and maintain scripts to facilitate the acceleration of migration tasks, utilizing the necessary APIs from the source control management systems.

• Construct GitHub Actions workflows to aid in the migration efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with GitHub Enterprise Cloud, GitLab, GitHub Enterprise Server, and/or BitBucket.

• Proven track record in planning and executing source control migrations — including defining scope, branch mapping, history retention, and permission translation.

• Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation purposes.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization technologies.

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies is advantageous.

• Background in package management.
