• Oversee the application lifecycle for both renewal and new opportunities from corporate, foundation, and federal entities, which includes: Identifying potential funders and RFP opportunities.
• Develop collateral materials, concept papers, letters of interest, proposals, and research documents (aiming for approximately 20 submissions annually).
• Facilitate collaboration across departments with NRPA staff and coordinate with partner organizations to define the scope of work and budget for fundraising initiatives.
• Manage internal workflows and ensure the successful submission of proposals.
• Administer data and tracking for NRPA’s institutional Development activities, including monitoring forecasted proposals, reports, and strategic discussions, utilizing NRPA’s AMS/CRM and through fundraising meetings and other engagements.
• Assist in donor stewardship strategies, which encompass NRPA’s supporter newsletter, the Park Patron Digest.
• Represent NRPA at meetings, conferences, and networking events in person.
• Establish and nurture partnerships with like-minded organizations, potential and current donors, as well as other stakeholders.
• Prepare reports for donors and for both internal and external colleagues as needed.
• Cross-promote initiatives internally and collaborate with other NRPA teams.
• Responsible for crafting and distributing regular communications, including:
• Coordinating and writing content for the quarterly NRPA Park Patron Digest.
• Generating and sourcing content for blogs, magazines, and newsletters as necessary.
• Providing regular updates to the NRPA website.
• Deliver superior customer service to grantees, members, donors, partners, and colleagues.
• Assist in developing budgets for project proposals and other financial documentation as required.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required; a Master's degree and/or industry certification, or a combination of education and experience is preferred.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a related field; 3-5 years of fundraising-specific experience is preferred; experience in associations and/or Parks & Recreation is a plus.
• Proven knowledge and a strong passion for NRPA priority areas and development.
• Strong alignment with NRPA’s core values.
• Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) to effectively and courteously engage with individuals at all levels, including partners and donors.
• Proficient research, program management, and time management abilities.
• Interest and readiness to represent NRPA at conferences and meetings.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team with minimal supervision, while paying attention to details.
• Strong team-building skills and a commitment to cooperative efforts.
• Ability to think critically, strategically, and creatively when solving problems and implementing programs.
• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining partnerships with funders and collaborators.
• Maintain quality control of personal work and effectively manage competing priorities.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and donor management software.
• Willingness to travel up to 25 days per year for local, state-wide, or national conferences, meetings, site visits with grantees, etc.
