This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Conduct comprehensive research on institutions and individuals that align with Capital Bβs mission to support identification, outreach, and proposal efforts, including preparing materials for external meetings.
β’ Keep the CRM as the development teamβs definitive source of information by ensuring data is accurate and current, while establishing a reporting cadence that provides essential insights across teams to keep the pipeline progressing.
β’ Oversee Capital Bβs membership database and workflow by providing data and analytics that assist in identifying potential mid-major or major donors.
β’ Spearhead the development of timelines for grant initiatives and proposed development activities, manage projects for fundraising events, and create new materials and one-pagers, along with significant collaborations within and across teams.
β’ Direct all reporting and renewal processes, including crafting narratives, collecting necessary materials, and organizing renewal discussions and meetings.
β’ Leverage extensive research and understanding of Capital B to manage our project-based grant portfolio, identifying potential funders, qualifying leads, and securing meetings to support our ambitious fundraising efforts.
β’ Act as the primary liaison for the operations, finance, and audience teams, ensuring that budgets and data are precise and up-to-date, and that this information is used for accurate reporting and stewardship.
β’ Organize and oversee the meeting cycle between grant makers, Capital B executives, and affiliates, including scheduling, preparing materials, and ensuring follow-up on post-meeting action items.
β’ Manage the stewardship of funders in collaboration with the development team and the wider Capital B staff, fostering a culture of philanthropy.
β’ Remain informed on trends in philanthropic giving and media to generate innovative strategies and ideas that will help us achieve our fundraising objectives.
β’ Minimum of 2 years of experience in development roles involving foundations and grants.
β’ Exceptional attention to detail along with strong organizational and time management abilities.
β’ Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including the capability to compose and edit persuasive donor communications and effectively represent Capital B in engaging in-person and virtual presentations.
β’ Strong analytical skills and experience in prospect research.
β’ Proven track record of meeting fundraising targets and delivering impactful results.
β’ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
β’ Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with grant makers, foundation staff, journalists, board members, and others.
β’ Experience within journalism organizations is preferred but not mandatory.
