• Develop and sustain demonstrations, sample applications, reference architectures, tutorials, and technical tools that assist developers in understanding the capabilities of Tailscale.
• Generate technical content for developers, including blog articles, documentation, videos, presentations, workshops, livestreams, and conference sessions.
• Act as a representative for Tailscale at events, conferences, meetups, community engagements, and discussions aimed at developers.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, marketing, support, and community teams to pinpoint developer challenges and convert that feedback into enhanced product experiences.
• Assist developers in comprehending Tailscale’s core connectivity product, along with newer product areas such as secure AI access, privileged access management, identity, infrastructure security, and developer tooling.
• Contribute to open source initiatives, examples, and integrations where applicable.
• Engage in public technical discussions through GitHub issues, pull requests, community forums, social media, and other developer feedback channels.
• Help establish what an exceptional developer experience entails at Tailscale, from initial engagement to production use.
• Solid software engineering background, with proven experience in building, debugging, and delivering real-world projects.
• Capability to produce clear, effective code samples, demos, tutorials, and technical materials for developer audiences.
• Profound curiosity about system functionalities, particularly in networking, infrastructure, security, identity, cloud, open source, or developer tooling.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and innovatively.
• Experience in engaging with technical audiences through conferences, meetups, livestreams, workshops, podcasts, videos, or internal engineering discussions.
• Comfortable participating in public forums via GitHub issues, pull requests, community discussions, social media, open source projects, and developer feedback loops.
• Strong developer empathy, emotional intelligence, and product insight.
• Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, product, marketing, support, community, and other technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating independently, selecting high-impact projects, and seeing them through from inception to execution.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and adhere to regular publishing, event, or launch timelines.
• Comfortable presenting on stage and on camera to developer audiences.
• Willingness to travel for events, conferences, and community engagements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals acquired through formal education, professional experience, open source contributions, self-directed learning, or ambitious personal projects.
