Principal Engineer, Software Developer Experience, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Make a significant impact on how clients utilize observability within their infrastructure and service architecture.

• Utilize AI technologies such as LLMs and ML to develop innovative features for our clients.

• Create experiences and systems that contextualize vast amounts of telemetry data.

• Contribute to the architecture of a rapidly growing platform.

• Collaborate with highly technical colleagues and clients.

• Enhance our own system observability, as we extensively use our own product.

• Increase the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of distributed systems.

• Mentor engineers and support the maintenance of our engineering standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python, Rust).

• Familiarity with AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, Claude) in day-to-day software development practices.

• Proven experience in building and managing highly available systems in a production environment.

• Proficient in working with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Experience in designing scalable APIs (REST, gRPC, GraphQL).

• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Experience in owning and executing projects from initial concept through to completion.

• Capable of working autonomously, with sound judgment on when to advance and when to seek assistance.

• Possess a collaborative working style and a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive environment.

• Ability to operate efficiently in a remote-first setting.
