• Develop practical samples and functional demonstrations that illustrate solutions to real document workflow challenges using Pdftools technology.
• Extend beyond mere samples by creating small applications and prototypes that showcase our technology prior to installation.
• Record your work through technical blog entries, step-by-step guides, and in-depth architecture analyses.
• Evaluate different approaches through real-world experiments (e.g., comparing OCR, vision models, and structured extraction) and share your findings.
• Experiment with LLMs, vision-language models, and agentic systems as they relate to document processing.
• Formulate clear technical viewpoints on the circumstances under which AI enhances document workflows and where deterministic processing remains superior, and publicly share these insights.
• Utilize AI coding tools (e.g., coding agents, LLM-assisted prototyping) for rapid development and iteration.
• Make significant contributions on platforms such as GitHub, Reddit, Hacker News, and developer communities.
• Host webinars, live coding sessions, and detailed architecture discussions.
• Participate in and present at relevant developer conferences.
• Regularly provide insights to product, marketing, and documentation strategies.
• Serve as an early indicator of emerging developer needs.
• 3–5 years of experience in software development.
• A genuine interest in understanding the challenges faced by your audience. You engage with developer discussions, identify recurring issues, and seek ways to be helpful proactively.
• Enjoyment in dissecting an SDK, discovering its limitations, and creating something innovative from it. Demos emerge from this curiosity rather than being the initial focus.
• Practical experience with AI systems including LLMs, vision-language models, RAG pipelines, or document AI workflows. You hold definitive views on their effectiveness and shortcomings.
• Proficient prototyping skills in:
• - Python (for data workflows, backend logic)
• - JavaScript/TypeScript (for frontend or SDK integrations)
• Established familiarity with AI coding tools and agents.
• The capability to communicate clear technical opinions based on your experiments and the confidence to publish those views publicly.
• Strong communication skills to present complex concepts in a peer-to-peer manner rather than in a didactic style.
• Nice to Have’s:
• - Previous experience with document processing, PDF libraries, or OCR systems; you already possess knowledge of the domain relevant to this role.
• - Understanding of compliance-focused industries such as insurance, banking, or government; you recognize why accuracy and reliability are essential in these workflows.
• - Experience in contributing to or managing open-source projects.
• - Background in developer tools, API-first companies, or SDK-centric products.
• 30 vacation days—yes, you read that correctly—that you can take whenever you need.
• 16 weeks of parental leave—100% of your salary—for all new parents.
• Opportunity to participate in a Phantom stock option plan - PSOP (Conditions apply).
• A well-being budget of up to 2,000 CHF annually that can be utilized for training and development (plus additional days off for courses or training) and for physical and mental health initiatives.
• Internal knowledge sharing and external coaching to enhance your professional and interpersonal skills.
• Hack days to inspire you and your team, as well as to create remarkable projects.
