This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +3 more states.
• Engage in the entire lifecycle of a feature: assist in planning, undertake development, and support the release and customer service efforts.
• Maintain high-quality and sustainable code by developing new testing strategies alongside existing ones, creating unit and integration tests for both new and existing code, thoroughly documenting your work, and effectively reporting issues.
• Strategize solutions prior to coding, identify and leverage existing patterns and best practices (development, security, quality), and submit well-documented merge requests.
• Contribute to and review documented proposals (RFCs/RFDs), advocate for best practices during code reviews, and provide constructive peer feedback.
• Equip our customer support team to better assist with our products, tackle challenging issues leading to support inquiries, and help identify high-priority customer feedback.
• Actively engage in team organization: refining, prioritizing, and collectively estimating tasks.
• Remain curious and seek out opportunities for improvement that you can suggest or undertake, whether related to repository maintenance, community engagement tools, or enhancing IDE integration ergonomics.
• Professional experience in software development, with the capability to independently manage a reasonably scoped feature from planning to release.
• Proficient understanding of the technologies and tools necessary to independently complete tasks.
• Extensive experience with a modern development toolchain (Git, IDEs, terminal, debugging and testing, dependency management) and the languages pertinent to the team's work.
• Strong written communication and documentation skills, appropriate for working within public repositories.
• Interest in developer tooling, IDE and agent integrations, and/or contributions to the open source community.
• Enthusiasm for agent-assisted development and creating tools that enhance the smoothness and security of agent-assisted development.
• A security-focused mindset that aligns with 1Password's principles.
• Bonus points for previous contributions to open source initiatives.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled or agentic IDEs (e.g., Cursor) or experience in developing editor/IDE extensions.
