This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop technical content that guides developers on utilizing Backblaze B2, including tutorials, sample applications, reference architectures, blog entries, and short-form videos.
• Create and publish functional code samples and demonstrations, particularly focusing on AI/ML workflows (such as training data pipelines, model artifact storage, and inference infrastructure), media workflows, and application storage.
• Enhance and contribute to developer documentation, SDKs, and quickstart guides.
• Convert insights gained from developers into actionable product feedback for the Engineering and Product teams.
• Actively engage in the developer communities frequented by our users, including social media platforms, Discord, Slack, GitHub, and other venues.
• Represent Backblaze at developer events: participate in speaking engagements, demonstrations, and networking, making yourself a valuable presence. We attend conferences related to AI/ML, media, cloud infrastructure, and startup ecosystems.
• Cultivate relationships within the AI/ML, media, and cloud infrastructure developer communities to foster awareness of Backblaze.
• Assist Flamethrower startup cohort members in accelerating their journey to production — addressing technical inquiries, validating architectures, and documenting shareable patterns.
• Collaborate closely with the Director of Startup & Developer Relations, along with our product team, lifecycle marketing, and product marketing, to identify prevalent technical challenges and create content that addresses them.
• Work alongside Marketing on ecosystem storytelling, technical blog strategies, and developer-oriented content.
• Establish a continuous feedback mechanism from developers to Product to identify friction points, integration gaps, and unmet needs.
• 4–7 years of practical experience as a software developer or engineer, with substantial exposure to cloud infrastructure and object storage (S3, B2, GCS, or similar).
• Direct involvement in building or integrating AI/ML workflows that include storage components — such as training data pipelines, model artifact management, inference infrastructure, or related tasks.
• Proficient in writing operational code. While you may utilize AI tools to expedite development, you possess a clear understanding of the code you produce and can articulate it to fellow developers.
• A recognized presence in developer communities — demonstrated through a social media following, conference presentations, a technical blog, open-source contributions, or a combination thereof. We prioritize engagement over follower counts; we seek evidence of your active participation and influence.
• Excellent written communication skills: capable of composing clear technical tutorials as well as concise internal summaries with equal proficiency.
• Self-motivated — you don’t require a content calendar to determine your next project.
• Comprehensive healthcare coverage for your family, including dental and vision care.
• Competitive salary and 401K plan.
• RSU grants available for full-time employees.
• Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
• Flexible vacation policy.
• Maternity and paternity leave.
• A MacBook Pro for work, along with a generous stipend to customize your workspace.
• Childcare bonus (for human children only).
• Support for fertility treatments.
• Opportunities for learning and development.
• Commuter benefits.
• A culture that promotes a healthy work-life balance.
