This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +5 more states.
• Take full ownership of Primer's internal developer platform from start to finish, which encompasses CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, self-service tools, and ephemeral environments.
• Create the human-AI development loop by developing tools and automation that facilitate engineers working alongside coding agents.
• Measure developer productivity and utilize delivery metrics to pinpoint and resolve bottlenecks.
• Participate in the Core Infrastructure on-call rotation and ensure the reliability of the systems you develop.
• Collaborate with product teams to enhance developer tools, frameworks, and internal APIs.
• Minimize application boilerplate and take charge of paved-road, golden-path tooling and service standards.
• Operate transparently within a fully distributed team, making decisions and trade-offs clear.
• Report directly to the Engineering Manager for Infrastructure & Data.
• Extensive experience with cloud infrastructure; AWS is preferred, but strong backgrounds in GCP are also acceptable.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes.
• Experience in infrastructure-as-code; Terraform is preferred, but Pulumi, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar tools are also valid.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD practices, including managing build, test, deploy workflows, and preview environments.
• Proven experience in measuring and enhancing delivery using DORA, SPACE, or comparable frameworks.
• Experience managing production systems and being part of an on-call rotation.
• A genuine background in software engineering, particularly in building and maintaining applications or products.
• Ability to analyze code ergonomics and develop effective AI and developer tools.
• Proficient in async-first communication and effective work within a remote, distributed team.
• Experience with AI or agent tooling / LLM-based development workflows is a plus.
• Familiarity with MCP servers and agent integration patterns is a plus.
• Experience in payments, fintech, or regulated industries is a plus.
